The Taylor Expression System provides the perfect conduit for amplifying this Grand Concert's intimate yet full sound. Plugged in or not, this rosewood guitar will fill the room with strong bass response and amazing projection. Woods - Indian Rosewood/Cedar Taylor's search for the world's finest tonewoods is a chance to explore a universe of tonal possibilities. Responsible procurement, careful preparation, and skilled craftsmanship are required ingredients in the guitar building process. Like guitars themselves, wood is our passion.
Western Red Cedar Origin: Western North America Cedar is less dense than spruce, and that softness typically translates into a sense of sonic warmth. If Sitka has a full dynamic range, cedar makes quieter tones louder, but it also imposes more of a ceiling on high volume levels driven by an aggressive attack. If one tries to drive a cedar top hard, at a certain point it will reach a volume limit. Typically, players with a lighter touch sound wonderful on a cedar-top guitar, finger-style players especially — that lighter touch will be amplified a little more, and one’s attack never reaches the ceiling.
Indian Rosewood (back & sides)- "Dalbergia latifolia" Indian rosewood is coveted by players and guitar builders alike for its dark, luxurious coloration, which ranges from brown to purple to rose to black, and for tonal characteristics that include a strong bass response and long sustain. It remains the most popular tonewood used in the making of high-quality acoustic guitars.
Shape - Grand Concert (GC) This shape defines intimacy in its size and sound. The GC is dynamically responsive to a lighter touch and is well-suited for fingerpicking. With clarity and balance, it's also perfect for mic'ing and home recording. Electronics - Taylor Expression System™ Using proprietary pickup technology developed at Taylor, the Expression System amplifies your guitar with an unrivaled, natural live sound. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally-clean amplified sound, It's your tone Amplified. Inlays - Small Pearl Dots Finish - Gloss Top, Back & Sides The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultra violet-cured finish us also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.
