Mark Dunn has been a professional musician since 1987. Taking cues from iconic rock and blues guitar influences such as Edward Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai….to name a few, Mark melded a style that enables him to work in just about any musical situation. Some of the locally based bands Mark played for were The Tonee Elliot band (featuring bassist extraordinaire Quintin Berry), Picture This and Waterworks.
Mark spent the better part of a decade playing lead guitar for country artist Bill Gentry, based out of Atlanta. “ I took joining Bill’s band as a personal challenge to learn a whole other style of music, because I was never anywhere near the country genre. But when I dove in, I found most modern country is very much like the rock I grew up on.” In 2008, atlantacountrymusic.com awarded Mark, Georgia Country Musician of The Year. But make no mistake, Mark does not consider himself a country guitarist.
Having shared the stage or performed with the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Keith Urban, Lonestar, 38 Special, Brad Paisley, STYX, Phill Vasser, Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins, and many others, Mark has enjoyed performing on festival sized stages, to the smallest of band stands shoved in the corner of a pub…… logging over 2500 shows in his career.
Mark currently plays regional country band, Tailgate Down, as well as being a featured artist with Dave Cynar, and studio sessions for various genres.
