| Well, Here's a new one. Well name is Drew and I am 13 years old. Been playing since i was 9 and i have pretty decent equipment. I am heavily dedicated to music, It's my dream and what i plan on to dedicate my whole life to. If we need to practice all week and i have to miss a lot of school im there, same goes for everything else. I'm looking for a band who would be dedicated enough not to say "well I had to go somewhere and had to miss practice." I've been in too many bands like that and everyone of them have seemed to suck. You have to be on time not 5,10,20,30 etc. minutes late to practice/rehersal. Im looking forward to writing new songs and playing them live. Even though i'm young i'm too dedicated to give up now. Keep the Pervert remarks to yourself if your like that I hate people who are like that and keep the maturity level a plus please. Also, Don't flush anyone out, like say if someone says "Hit the snare instead of the hi-hat" just do it because you never know, it might actullay sound better that way, but not so stupid where its like "hit the crash 20 more times than just 10..." Cause thats retarted. I Love bands who actullay do their homework for the week and who actullay knows what their talking about in the Musical Theroy. | Our band Defiminority is currently trying out SINGERS. We are a diverse band that draws upon many musical influences. We are both mid-late 30's with careers and families, and are not in a position to chase the rock and roll dream full time. However, music is too great a force in our lives to prevent us from wanting to play when given the opportunity. We are looking to form a band with other musicians that are in the same type of situation. We aim to concentrate primarily on covers, with the possibility of writing and performing some originals as well. We would like to primarily enjoy jamming with other like minded musicians w/o the stress of “making it happen”. Playing some killer songs, kicking back a few pints, and maybe playing a show or two a month locally- that’s about it. We are attempting to walk the fine line between songs that are too mainstream (i.e. boring and cliche’) and songs that are too obscure, and hopefully fall somewhere in the middle. We are currently working on songs from the following bands/artists: The Cars, Oasis, Wallflowers, Fastball, Sugar, Weezer, The Hives, Superdrag, Kings Of Leon, Matthew Good, Smashing Pumpkins...to name a few. Chuck Williams, potential bassist here! Looking to either hook up with an established band or put something together with the right folks.
I have a day job... no starving musician here. Just want to practice once a week (which is enough if everyone does their homework) and play cover tunes for cash a few of times a month. Not looking for a second job, but I do expect my group to put on a professional show. Looking for musicians who realize that we're being paid to entertain the folks getting drunk, not get drunk ourselves. Also insist a playing appropriate volume for the venue (Too loud = no more gigs at most venues).
I'd like to keep the band to a 3 or 4-piece; there's more $300-$400 work around than $600 work. Besides, a good 3 or 4-piece group can make the better money ("Butter" or "Dynamo Hum" are 4-piece groups, for example)
A bit about myself:
- I play guitar or bass; am best suited for bass.
- I'm currently in the USAF; will retire out of it next year. I've had to switch bands every 3-4 years due to USAF moves.
- Am open to any guitar rock, but primarily know Classic Rock. If you're interested I'll E-mail you a list of songs that I can walk in the door and play.
- Can sing some lead (I'll pick and choose my songs, I know my limitations). Am good with harmonies, I've been in a bands where I essentially did all the harmonies.
- I'm much less interested in a group where I don't know half the material from the start. I know most of the "standards" and unlike some musicians I propose rather than oppose playing them. "Gimme Three Steps" and "Play That Funky Music" are the kind of songs that will get you hired. In addition to what I know at this instant, I've played lots of other cover tunes in the various bands I've been in that I could relearn quick.
- Have a full P.A., lights, and an Aerostar van that can haul all of it (out of room with my own stuff -all my band mates have to haul their own equipment!). My rig is portable and can get you by anywhere indoors. I know the equipment and can mix from the stage with a minimal sound check before we start
